 "Good for baby" 2009-05-21
By B. J. Morris (Covington, GA United States)
I bought my Bumbo for my oldest daughter, and it's proven invaluable for both babies.

I'm not the kind of mom to use my Bumbo in place of supervision. That's what the Pack-N-Play is for. :) So, all this talk of it being harmful to your child's spine is kind of ridiculous, IMO. I primarily used my Bumbo to feed my child, worked much better than the high chair we tried to use, because there was no sliding down the seat, not slipping from side to side, etc.

There were times when I needed to set the baby down for a moment, but she was crawling (my oldest walked at 9 months, so the Bumbo was pretty useless at that point) and wouldn't stay in one spot. The Bumbo was a great way to keep the baby still in one spot while I did something that wouldn't let me watch her closely. Like while I was preparing dinner, she could sit on the Bumbo on the countertop (wide counter, she was next to the wall, about 2.5 feet from the edge) while I did my thing about a foot away. It allowed me the chance to spend time with her while I did things I had to do.

I've done an exhaustive search on Google, but I've not seen a single site where a *doctor* (zealous website authors don't count as doctors, just as spreaders of urban legend in some cases) recomended against using a Bumbo. I've had several different pediatricians (group practice), and none has ever told me to discontinue use of the Bumbo. I think they actually appreciated me taking it along, since holding the baby still makes for a faster exam!

 "lower the price please?" 2009-01-19
By S. J. Gallardo (pasadena, CA)
These seats are great but way too expensive. It's not made of diamonds for goodness sake and you can only use it for a certain short period of time. If you have a big fat baby, you can't use it at all--her chubby legs will be too big for the leg holes. And once your baby learns to sit on her own, you don't need it at all, so the cost is almost $10/month.

It is very sturdy and the colors are cute. They make great hand-me-downs as they stand up to a lot of use. If you know someone who owns one but doesn't need it anymore, maybe they'll pass it on to you. I don't see why not.

"The Bumbo is fabulous! " 2008-05-05
By A. M. Baca-Perea
My baby loves her Bumbo! It really helps her to sit up and get to know her surroundings without using pillows, etc. to prop her up. I also feel more at ease using the Bumbo opposed to pillows, because I know that she won't slump over. Although this item is a pit pricey, I would definitely recommend this product to others.

"Bumbo seat not only a waste of money, it is dangerous to your baby's developing spine" 2008-04-13
By A.nonymous (United States)
I was given a Bumbo seat for my third son. I have never been one to like baby things that took up a lot of space with little purpose and even shorter lifespan, but she had elaborated how great it was so I accepted it happily.

It was uncomfortable for my son, first and foremost. Much like a "One size fits all" type clothing item, it was more like "one size never fits right". If it fit in the legs, the body part was too big, and when the body fit it was too tight in the legs.

Then I mentioned it to my doctor. It got a big THUMBS DOWN. A baby's spine should not be forced to support its own weight before it is capable, and that is basically what this seat is doing. Later, when the baby can support itself, he or she should be learning balance and sitting, this seat simply encourages them to do nothing.

On top of it not fitting well, and being bad for their spine, it is simply a space taker with no purpose. Want to feed your baby? sit them in a high chair. Chances are if they have to be forced to sit in this to eat they are not ready to be supporting themselves or be fed in that way.

I would encourage anyone interested in this item to do something more useful and enjoyable with the money-something that couldn't potentially harm their baby's development.

"how do you put it together?" 2009-10-27
By Nicole Albers (North Dak)
ordered 2 one for me one for MIL. Read instructions and began to assemble. Cannot make back rest snap into base on either chair. OK maybe its me, anyone else have this trouble? It won't lock there for I cannot move on to the seat. Frustrating, I think I will call FP.

 "OK... with reservations" 2009-10-15
By RED (Maryland)
The seat was easy to assemble. It is easy to clean and sturdy. The snap tabs that allow for adjustment of the angle of the seat are difficult to use, but I suspect that is so it doesn't pop out on its own unintentionally. The only thing I don't like about it is that the tray stays at a 90 degree angle with the seat so that when it is reclined the tray is not level...it moves up in the front with the seat. So to have a level tray the seat must be in the fully upright position. It is ok with an older child, but a small child less than 5 or 6 months is going to have no tray or keel over toward the front when seated upright.

Other than that, the price is right, and I think for most people after the first 5 months it is an excellent choice for every day usage.

"Great Alternative and Space Saver!" 2009-09-26
By Dawn De Lorenzo (Woodbridge, NJ)
My mother purchased this one for us and we gave her the standard high chair since we have a small house/kitchen and need all the room we can get. This is a great alternative to a big bulky high chair. I set it up quickly and it was easy to assemble and strap to the chair. The only problem I had was with the elastic on the back of the seat cushion. You are supposed to pull it through two slots on the top and then two slots in the middle to secure the cushion in place on the chair. One of the elastic straps immediately broke when I pulled it and the ones in the middle have no holes to go through. I am not sure what happened there. I also wish the bottom of the cushion has something to secure to as it just seems to flap around. Otherwise, this is a great chair and our daughter is very comfortable in it.

 "LOVE this booster seat!" 2010-01-17
By emory2001
I don't understand the few 1-star reviews on this seat at all. I received this booster as a gift, and first fell in love with it when my son was 4-5 months old and could sit up with help, but he wasn't yet comfortable sitting in a hard wood restaurant high chair. He was very comfortable in this. Now that he is older, when a restaurant doesn't have enough high chairs, I just run out to the car and grab the booster seat. It stays in the car all the time. The straps are easily adjustable, so he was held in tight, and the seat straps well to chairs (better for a table than a booth seat, can't be attached to a booth). We even took it to a football game and strapped it to the stadium bleachers. At the end of a meal, I wipe it down with one or two baby wipes. It is so versatile and convenient, and my new favorite baby gift to give.

 "Excellent" 2009-07-15
By Fleecie (Los Angeles, CA USA)
We're so glad that we brought this portable high chair to our Europe trip. It's so compact & convenient. We just put it in our backpack or stroller & it took only seconds to set it up. In Europe, they usually don't have high chairs & this works perfect for us. But I'll suggest using it when baby is big or old enough (like around 1) as they don't have trays.

 "Great portable seat" 2009-07-10
By Sonja (Hermitage)
This seat is really useful. We keep it in our car so we always have a seat handy when eating at family or friends. Before we had this we would try and balance our toddler on a pillow or on our laps, neither a good solution. Now that we have another baby our toddler was very did not mind giving up his highchair for his baby brother. This seat made his transition easier.

We have not had problems keeping it clean.

 "Twins? You NEED this!" 2009-03-26
By Kimberlee S. Greenawa (Shenandoah Valley, VA)
I used these for my singletons, but NEEDED it with the twins. Shopping at any grocery store where they only have regular carts. I put one child in the seat, and then I strap this into the basket part. I strap the other baby into this. Works great!!! My family would have starved without this!

I only used these after they outgrew their infant seats. Until then I put one in a snuggly or a backpack.

 "Great seat" 2009-12-28
By Panni (Baltimore, MD)
This was something we should have gotten earlier for our boy. We used it to help him sit up (when he could not) and then later as an ad-hoc feeding chair - it has its uses for a while. It is easy to clean, soft (cushioned) and our boy loved sitting in it. He can now climb in and out of it - that's fine because it is a good toy. And again, we use it as a feeding chair if he have to take him anywhere for any length of time.

"Not a must-have; depends on the child." 2009-12-14
By E. B. Glass (Decatur, GA)
I agree with previous reviewers that the Bumbo's usefulness depends on your child's personality. My mommy friends led me to believe that this was a "must-have" that every child would love. It's a cute product, innovative and it appears to be well-designed. I saw no reason my baby wouldn't like it! However, it turns out that my daughter was just way more interested in moving than sitting still. The first few times we tried to put her in it (3-4 months) she didn't have enough trunk control and slouched over, so we removed her. By the time she was 5-6 months, she was constantly arching her back and trying to launch herself out of the Bumbo. She was learning to crawl and valued mobility over sitting and watching the world go by. Ultimately, it wasn't the best investment for our family. I wish I had bought one used instead of paying full price for it (because I was naive and so sure it was the perfect baby product). We did use it the first couple of weeks she was eating solids, but we will probably put our next child straight in the high chair when she reaches that stage. I did keep it and I am holding out hope that our next child will appreciate the Bumbo more than our first. Maybe then we can get our money's worth!

"A must have for baby!!!" 2009-11-30
By J. Smith
This is a great seat!!! My baby is just taking an interest in sitting up (hates to be laying down) and this chair lets him see everything I'm doing. Maybe not a good product for a baby that can already sit up on their own or be used to contain your baby as stated in a past review. Then you may have issues with them getting out since sitting up with help is boring to them. Common sense. I would recommend this seat to any parent!!

"Why didn't I buy this for my other two kids?" 2009-07-12
By A. Jenkins (Temecula, CA)
I am a mommy of three, my youngest being 5 months and we love the Bumbo chair! My only complaint is that I didn't have this neat chair for my two older kids. I remember seeing the Bumbo being used before I had my second little girl, but still was not convinced it was worth the money-after all there are so many baby gadgets and not all of them are worth the money you spend. This one is. Do not hesitate, the Bumbo is worth the money and babies love it (parents too).

"Must have for first seat" 2009-06-18
By Brenda Vincent (Mossyrock, WA USA)
We love this seat. We take it to restaurants and sit it right on the table, it is easy to haul around and is comfortable and fits a baby. I took my grand daughter (9-months old) for her first ice cream cone at Dairy Queen. She was too short to reach the table top in the provided high chair. We just went out to the car and got our Bumbo Chair out of the trunk and sit it on the table and was good to go. I love this chair and so does my grand daughter. I would highly recommend this chair as a gift or for your own child. She started sitting in the chair before she was able to sit by herself. I would put her on the counter while I did dishes. I recommend getting the tray that goes with it. Its a mini high chair while baby is waiting to get big enough for a real high chair and is very portable...grandma must have!

 "Great little chair" 2009-12-05
By D. M. Wagers (Ohio, USA)
I have been using this chair since my baby was about 6 months old. She's now 18 months and still fits very well. She's tall but slender (34 inches and 24lbs)It cleans up well, my only complaint is the straps are hard to keep clean, but can be removed and put in the washing machine. It is bulky to carry around, but that's expected since it is a booster seat. And it is less of a hassle to transport than a high chair. It folds up into a nice square.

The toy attachment that came with it is pretty useless for my child. She played with it more off the chair than on and has since grown out of it. Some of the writing is coming off on the front of the tray, but that's not a huge issue. Seeing how it's been used three times a day for the last year, it's not in bad shape.

I would buy again and will recommend to friends and family.

By Richard M. Lane Jr. (Jen Lane)
We actually bought this booster seat for our son before we got a traditional high chair. He loves playing with the toys on the tray. The seat fits securely onto any size chair (it has adjustable straps) and is very lightweight. It folds for easy travel. We've brought it to visit grandparents, to restaurants and on vacation. My son even likes to sit in it to color while I make dinner. The tray is easy to clean and can be put into the dishwasher. We've been very happy with this booster seat and wholeheartedly recommend it.

This booster seat is lightweight so that it's very convenient to take to restaurants, etc. It is very easy to put together and the different adjustments on the tray and seat make it easy to get a good fit. My granddaughter loves playing with the set in jungle scene when she's not eating. The straps seems to secure well to all chairs we have tried. The only thing that wasn't top notch were the instructions but that was a nit. We coudln't find this at the local stores in town so with super saver shipping it was very reasonable. All in all 5 stars.

I LOVE this booster!!!!! I bought one for my daughter around 5-6 months because she sat in one at a friend's house and it entertained her for sooo long!!!! I was amazed and it was so great to not have to hold her as i usually do since she doesn't like swings and can't sit up on her own yet without toppling over. I also was about to start solids and needed at place to feed her at grammy's. I bring it to restaurants and she actually behaves and can sit at the table with us instead of her infant carseat! It really has been a lifesaver! My friend says that she used this when her dtr was little so that she could take a shower while she played in it on the bathroom floor. I highly recommend!!

I could have used this item so many time in the past I cannot believe it's taken me this long to buy it. I have an 11 month old son and pregnant again. The best thing about this item is when I go shopping and cannot bring a stroller. Can we say bathroom necessity???? It is a safe place to put the kiddo down for a minute without him crawling around a bathroom floor. I love it even more when I go over to a friends house and I need a place to sit him down to feed or just give him his own space at the table. This is a must have item!

By M. Wilson (Lake Oswego, OR United States)
This booster seat is just exactly what I have been looking for! It worked great on my last flight, the compartment was big enough to hold all my essentials for my 2 year old and also some toys and games for him. Then when it was time to eat at the airport. there was no need to grab one of the nasty dirty booster seats. I simply unzipped my booster seat, snapped it into place and my toddler was ready to eat. This is one really great product and I highly recommend it.

"Great for the Mom of a pre-schooler!!" 2009-09-01
By J. Misso (Cleveland, OH)
The point of the bag is that you can use it as a diaper/travel bag and it converts to a booster seat when necessary. The bag could easily fit a couple diapers, wipes, snacks and reading materials/toys to keep him busy while out at an eating establishment. It looks just like a diaper bag but has a hard insert inside to boost your little one up to the table and a snap out back to support them and buckle them in. Then you use the carrying straps to buckle it to the chair so no worries of sliding off (unlike most restaurant booster seats). Bottom Line: The bag is great to keep at the ready in my car for any excursion we may have that involves sitting at a table whether it be out in public or just at a girlfriends house for lunch, the bag has a ton of uses and I love the fact that I can keep distractions for my son easily accessible and don't have to weigh down my already jam-packed diaper bag with them. Although I probably wouldn't use it as my everyday bag I found it very useful and it definitely makes my life easier:)
