Bumbo Baby Sitter The Bumbo Baby Sitter is a revolutionary new concept with world wide patent rights, uniquely designed according to the baby's posture. It is certainly a different take on high chairs and boosters. The baby seat will allow baby to independently sit upright from as young as 3 months up to an age of approximately 14 months. The baby Bumbo seat provides a snug and cozy environment for the baby. For parents looking for something other than non-traditional boosters such as the Fisher Price Space Saver or Edushape Hi Seat, the Bumbo Seat is for you. The Bumbo infant seat is manufactured to the highest safety standards from low-density foam material, which helps make these baby seats lighter and more portable. The seat is soft and comfortable for the baby. The Bumbo Baby Sitter is safe, hygienic and non-toxic with an integral outer skin of durable, easy to clean material. The Bumbo Baby Sitter baby seat is versatile and does not require any uncomfortable straps or fasteners and is designed so baby's own body gently keeps it in place. The Bumbo Seat should only be used on a flat ground level surface and should not be used until your baby is fully able to support its head. Depending upon the individual development of the child, some babies will be able to climb out of the Bumbo seat so never leave the child unattended.

 "Just ok" 2009-12-20
By C. Golis (Indianapolis, IN)
My daughter doesn't like to sit in it very long, she is always twisting around and pushing her body up to try to get out of it. She's not even 6 months old yet. She's only sat in it a handful of times. Good thing I got it secondhand. Not worth the money but ok if its free. I guess it works for some babies, but not the active ones!

 "Babies with Disabilities" 2009-12-06
By LDP
I seldom see reviews of the Bumbo that mention how helpful it is for children with disabilities. My granddaughter was born with a metabolic disorder and many other complications, including severe hypotonia in her upper body. My daughter was told she would never sit upright, a diagnosis that has long since been dismissed as she's not only sitting but walking and running. However, she could not sit at close to a year and still had severe head drag. When someone, I believe one of her therapists, suggested a Bumbo chair, however, the chair provided enough support that she could sit upright for a few minutes at a time, beginning to strengthen muscles and learn balance. It gave her a whole new perspective on the world and freed her hands so that she could begin to play with toys for the first time. At the time, she could not even use a standard car seat for a child her age but still required the infant type, because she would slide down in the car seat appropriate for a child her age. Perhaps this gives some insight into how helpful the support of the Bumbo was. I know there are concerns with children tipping over, particularly if the Bumbo is placed on a high perch, but it is a fabulous invention for some families. I should probably note that my granddaughter's underlying illness meant that she has always been small for her age and will always be thin. Therefore, I don't have any perspective or experience on whether the Bumbo would be as appropriate for a bigger or more physically adept one-year-old, but I know this was a great tool in my granddaughter's struggle to attain those skills other, stronger children find easier.

 "It's awesome." 2009-06-30

We saw this seat at Walmart and we stopped to look at it. We were getting ready to walk away when a guy walked up behind us and said "My mom runs a daycare and she swears by those!" So we bought it! A little pricey but WOW, so WORTH IT!! I am going to buy one for my friend who is having a baby in July. My daughter is 4 months old and she LOVES being able to sit up on her own. The way it positions the baby is perfect because they can sit up straight but don't tip over. Whoever designed this is a genius.

 "Awesome" 2009-06-29

Got this for our 3 month old, she has had it for about a month now, she loves it. She hates being held like a baby, and loves to be able to look around, so this was perfect.

It does look like it would be hard plastic but it's actually just foam, very cushiony (daughter slung her head forward and hit her mouth against the middle support and she didn't get hurt/bleed/cry/get upset).

A little expensive, but I do recommend this product. I believe this will assist your baby in learning how to sit up on their own at a faster rate (depending on your baby and how much they use it).

Bottom of it says it's made in South Africa just in case anyone was wondering.

 "must-have for baby" 2009-04-20
By M. Miller (Gates, NC)
I saw this seat while doing some Christmas shopping and I would not buy it because I thought it too expensive and then my sis-in-law gave one to my daughter for Christmas! Had I known how useful it would prove to be, I would have bought one WAY sooner. This seat provides stability and an upright perspective (which babies love) for infants who cannot yet sit independently. It is a truly magnificent design and works far better than I ever imagined it would. It will last some children longer than others- if your baby is very active and really determined to get out and go places then this seat will not last them too long. My niece is like that and she didn't use hers long at all. My own daughter, however, is kind of laid back and is still quite content to sit in hers at the ripe old age of 8 months. Now that she can sit by herself she still uses her Bumbo, we even take it to restaurants and use it like a booster. As soon as baby has good head control, they can sit in a Bumbo!! They will love it. It looks, in pictures, like it may be hard plastic but it is made of really soft foam-rubber-type stuff (and, in case it matters to anyone, it is NOT made in China). Shop around, though, because you can get them at Wal-Mart now for about $10 cheaper than here.
